Perseverance and tenacity are often the foundational traits of success. When these are combined with dedication and teamwork, the result is outstanding. Over 400 students of The Bharda New High School wore these very traits on their sleeve and participated in the schools Sports Event on 29th October 2018.
The Athletic meet was held at the University Ground. The students of the primary and secondary department put on a spectacular display of their months of hard work in an array of events in various categories ranging from field events to track events.
Mr. Akshay Tambe, a Chartered Accountant and the ex-student of the school graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event commenced with the hoisting of the flag by Mr. Tambe. The oath was taken by the Sports Head boy, whereby the students solemnly pledged to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.
The meet was declared open soon after. The chief guest lauded the well co-ordinated march past carried out by the students of various houses.
This was followed by a number of track and field events, marked with commendable vigour, enthusiasm and exciting victories listed as follows

The sports meet was concluded by appreciating the tireless zeal of the students and the efforts of teachers by Our Principal Mrs. Vinita Lewis. Apart from commemorating victories, Mrs. Lewis also emphasized on the importance of such events where children not only get an opportunity at displaying their physical prowess but also get lessons on camaraderie, courage.
She added that, The Bharda school had the privilege to display names of sports stalwarts like Vijay Merchant, Polly Umrigar and Nari Contractor, who had the distinction of captaining India; And very humbly we at Bharda are keeping up with its tradition in its 127th year with the same promise and flamboyant spirit.
