The School was founded on 3rd January 1891 by Messrs. Jalbhai Dorabji Bharda and Kaikobad Behramji Marzban. It is one of the oldest cosmopolitan educational institutions in Mumbai and caters to the educational needs of its pupils and tries to bring out their individuality and develop their personality by giving them ample opportunities by way of numerous co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The School has always maintained a very high standard of scholastic achievement and is proud of the fact that it has produced pupils who have stood first in the S.S.C. Examination and have carried away many prizes in various subjects in the S.S.C. Examinations.

True to its motto “EVER NEW” the School has been the pioneer in numerous progressive activities in the educational field. Thus it was the first school in the state to have drawing, practical work in science and physical training, compulsory for all students. It was the first institution to have compulsory medical examination of its pupils. It was the first to have exhaustive cumulative records. The first among schools to hold a Career Conference of its own and the first to have a Road-Safety Patrol recognised by the Traffic Department of the Maharashtra State Police armed with some of the powers of policemen on traffic duty.

The School can, with justifiable pride, recall the meritorious achievements of its “Old Boys” who occupy or have occupied the highest positions in every walk of life. We can count among our old boys – ambassadors, ministers, members of parliament, leaders of political parties, judges of different courts, mayors and sheriffs of Mumbai. Many of them are at the very top of their professions in leading commercial, banking and industrial concerns of the country as well as in the professions of teaching, law and medicine.

We have always given great importance to all games and sports. We are justly proud of the great traditions of our school in cricket. Out school is considered to be the “Nursery of Cricket in India”. Our cricket teams have taken part in Inter-school Cricket tournaments – the Harris and the Giles Shield Tournaments – ever since their inception. We have won the Harris Shield (Senior Championship) 25 times. We have won the Giles Shield (Junior Championship) 9 times. The School has given a number of cricketers to India.

Vijay Merchant, Polly Umrigar and Nari Contractor had the distinction of captaining India.

We have also produced outstanding cyclists. Sudhir K. Thakersey, the well-known International Table Tennis player, was also an old boy of the school.

We have kept abreast of the changing educational system and have maintained the high standard of education and discipline of which we have always been justifiably proud.

The school has celebrated its Silver, Golden, Diamond, Platinum Jubilees, Centenary Year and Quasquicentennial Year
